Hydration: Should You Be Drinking Pedialyte?

As COVID-19 continues to spread, we are also reminded that cold and flu season is still in full swing. We’re taking a moment to remind our partners that staying hydrated can help your body remove toxins from your system. If you do come down with a cold or flu, hydration becomes one of your best weapons in shortening the duration.

We created GLUKOS to behave as an oral IV, otherwise known as an Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS), providing an efficient, effective and convenient way to achieve and maintain optimal hydration and energy levels.

Your hydration choice matters
It is well-known that people turn to mass-market products such as Pedialyte when feeling under the weather in an attempt to boost hydration. In concept, this is great, but unfortunately these products contain artificial colors, flavors and ingredients like the artificial sweetener sucralose. A recent study published by a group of Yale researchers raises new questions about the use of artificial sweeteners and their effects on weight gain and overall health.

Even worse, these products often contain extremely high amounts of sodium and relatively low amounts of potassium. With the average US adult consuming far more sodium and far less potassium than recommended, this throws electrolyte balance off even further. Your critical body functions, including your immune system, rely on balanced electrolytes to function correctly.

Using GLUKOS as a daily hydration supplement
Recent studies confirm that fluids that have the same ingredients as Oral Rehydration Solutions (such as GLUKOS) hydrate better than water alone. As such, we encourage the use of our products beyond fuel for workouts and into everyday life.
