Mark Jensen's Favorite GLUKOS Breakfast

Because glucose is the “good sugar”, it requires no digestion and results in no addition of lactic acid or fat to the body. I’m always looking for ways to replace sucrose in my diet with glucose or GLUKOS!

One of my personal favorite breakfast foods is Cream of Wheat.

Cream of Wheat is naturally high in iron, which is the mineral that supplies our red blood cells with oxygen.  The faster and more efficiently your cells get this much needed oxygen the better you will be able to run, bike or swim.

Cream of Wheat is also high in calcium - 20% of your nutritional daily value and has 4g of protein.

Before a longer bike ride or swim, I like to eat two servings of Cream of Wheat (that’s 1/3 cup of Cream of Wheat with 2 cups of 2% or whole milk). Together, with the milk, you end up with 100% of your iron, 100% of your calcium and 24g of protein (10g of protein per cup of 2% milk).

I also add my favorite fruit and berries like blueberries, strawberries, blackberries and bananas for added vitamins and electrolytes.

Now here’s the fun part!

Instead of adding brown sugar (sucrose, a.k.a. Mr. Nasty), to the Cream of Wheat, I add one GLUKOS Energy Fruit Punch Powder Stick. The flavor of the GLUKOS powder stick is very mild in the Cream of Wheat, but it also compliments the fruit. Not only does this taste great, but it will naturally fuel you up for your longer workout without the lactic acid and fat from a sucrose or fructose added sugar. The GLUKOS powder stick also provides the added benefit of much needed potassium and sodium for that workout.

Enjoy your next workout!
